Nudge Season 2: The Programming Guide

Against all odds, we’ve made it another year around the sun. I mean that collectively. We, as a pinball community, have navigated like 18 billion different game releases, streams, and launch parties than anyone has ever had to deal with in the history of modern entertainment. Also? Nudge released a couple of issues. We’ll consider that season 1. Sorta like your favorite TV show. Sure there were some characters you liked, but maybe the writing felt uneven — and the special effects felt low budget.

Well, guess what you magnificent bastard? We’re upping the ante this year. Season 2 of the Nudge subscription goes on sale TONIGHT. With it, you’re getting a ton of dope stuff. What kinda stuff? Well, beyond some pretty rad shwag — Nudge 3 and 4. We’re nearly done with 3 and have a pretty good handle on where we’re going with four, so we thought we’d use this week to give y’all a preview of what’s just around the corner for subscribers.

Yeah, yeah. Next week will be a normal article — but we got writers to pay and magazines to print. We need to move some subscriptions, son! It’s war. WAR.

Nudge 3 gets REAL

Look, we aren’t gonna show you layouts. We save the good stuff behind an UNBREAKABLE pay wall known as PRINT MEDIA. What I will do? Well, I guess you’re about to find out, sonny jim. Settle down. Sheesh. For real, no one likes a pusher.

Feature: Heart of Darkness.

Two writers descend into the madness of Pinball Olympics

Last October, Rick Brewster and Doc Monday were invited to cover the Pinball Olympics. One of pinball’s most infamous events, our two writers forged ahead, into the very heart of madness. What they experienced would test the very foundation of their friendship, drive them to redefine sobriety, and shatter their hollow construct of what a pinball tournament could be. For real. Also someone yakked and we have pics. For real, this is gonna be a good one.

Gina Collecchia’s touching tribute to a European pinball legend

“On Sunday, February 25, 2023, at the end of 9 hours of qualifying for the French national pinball championship, Samuel Bréan of Paris died of cardiac arrest. Following a game of Iron Maiden with a score of over 1 billion points, he suddenly collapsed to the ground. An ambulance would arrive 10 minutes after this, but it was too late to save his life.”

That’s how Gina’s story on French pinball legend, Samuel Bréan, begins. Gina spent an evening playing pinball with Brean’s friend and fellow pinballer, Gilbert Amar, during a recent trip to San Francisco. The conversation that followed was a touching tribute to a European pinball legend from a close friend who knew him well through a hobby we all share. It’s definitely a departure from the typical NUDGE TOILET PAPER LOL style journalism, but it’s a really dope moment crystalized in time, and like actually touching. Shit. Long story short: you’re gonna want to read it.

Rick Brewster’s amazing Texas hoedown

Rick went to TPF. He saw some good things, some bad things, and some very ugly things. That’s how they do it in Texas. Those three always appear in that order. This is kinda a vintage Nudge travel story, written and shot by long-time Nudge contriby (and assistant editor), Rick Brewster. Giddy up, pardner

Tyler White X Elizabeth Weinberg

We had two of LA’s most prominent pinball players get together for a mutual interview. Not to be missed.

Ben Granger bares his pinball soul and teaches you some dirty, dirty deeds

We ran Ben’s story, Confessions of an Ex-Rage Tilter and by god if it wasn’t one of the best stories we got this year. So much so that we’re blowing it out and doing it RIGHT in the magazine. Come see Ben at his absolute TILTIEST as he shows you some of Pinball’s most OUTLAWED and SENSUAL moves.

Plus a ton of other dope stuff

Pinball music reviews, Ask Iggy, and even MORE toxic pinball traits. Plus a ton of other stuff that will rot your brain and make you cool. Oh, and you know what else? You see that dope Keith Elwin image by Katie Lawver? Well, we’re including GIANT ASS STICKERS with this image on it with every subscription. What else?

  • The Nudge Club Card - Easily identify yourself to other goofenbachers with this stylish card.

  • Official Nudge Graffiti Stencil - Throw up the tag of your favorite pinball magazine’s logo anywhere you want. Guitar case? Old EM cab? The only limit is your imagination

  • Nudge stickers - More cool work from the deranged illos and graphic designers at Nudge.

  • Priority ordering and free shipping on all Nudge merch - We have some fun merch drops this year. You’ll get access before anyone else and free shipping! Wild!

  • Issue 4 before anyone else - Yeah, you heard me. Probably like a full two weeks to a month before those other scrubs. Maybe longer, knowing how the yahoos over here operate.

Issue 4: Class of 2023

It’s weird to already start thinking about Issue 4, but we are. I can’t tell you too much, but we’re gonna feature the NEXT GENERATION of great pinball players. Trust us, you’ll wanna be there. And you will be with the Nudge Subscription. DO IT.
